Romancing the 80s

Perhaps it was you, perhaps it was the time, perhaps it was you romancing the time.

If you were alive in the 80s, you were in all likelihood alive to the 80’s energy. An energy which would’ve smothered all defences and infiltrated your core.

A force that will stay with you, romance you, define your being, through the decades that follow.

To today. Till now. This instant. When you read this word. And the words that follow.

Hyper-change in the 80s coincided with the changes taking place in your life. These changes created desire, drama and often questions –hurl yourself back; rewind as you would, a VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) to back then, to the 80s, at the pace of your choice (stop and fast rewind or rewind on picture), and you’ll find the answers. Or more questions. Or a smell. Or a touch. A sensation.

It was you. All you. Something that was peculiar to you, and that peculiar time. The two combined, and created a romance.

Whether you were a child, a teenager, or coming of age, you were romancing the 80s and the 80s were romancing you – with all the powers vested in it by the masters of the universe.

You yielded, why wouldn’t you? It was a silly, innocent, spontaneous, funny time. It was a time of romance and strange fitting clothes. It was comedy without intending to be. It was bold, intending to be.

Come, my friend, let’s dance into the 80s again. And give that time a kiss like only we can.
