I was lucky to be alive during that decade—the nineteen eighties. What a time to be young! What a time to be in love! Thank you for the memories.

A Nostalgic Journey Through an Iconic Decade
Perhaps it was you, perhaps it was the time, perhaps it was you romancing the time.
If you were alive in the 80s, you were in all likelihood alive to the 80’s energy. An energy which would’ve smothered all defences and infiltrated your core.
A force that will stay with you, romance you, define your being, through the decades that follow.
To today. Till now. This instant. When you read this word. And the words that follow.
Hyper-change in the 80s coincided with the changes taking place in your life. These changes created desire, drama and often questions –hurl yourself back; rewind as you would, a VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) to back then, to the 80s, at the pace of your choice (stop and fast rewind or rewind on picture), and you’ll find the answers. Or more questions. Or a smell. Or a touch. A sensation.
It was you. All you. Something that was peculiar to you, and that peculiar time. The two combined, and created a romance.
Whether you were a child, a teenager, or coming of age, you were romancing the 80s and the 80s were romancing you – with all the powers vested in it by the masters of the universe.
You yielded, why wouldn’t you? It was a silly, innocent, spontaneous, funny time. It was a time of romance and strange fitting clothes. It was comedy without intending to be. It was bold, intending to be.
Come, my friend, let’s dance into the 80s again. And give that time a kiss like only we can.

- रुकावट के लिए खेद हैं। Totally forgotten era that getting an uninterrupted transmission also meant so much.
- The poem, On a park bench. Oh my God! the simplicity of those crushes & that romance.
- Photographs in the studio- It was really special, I still enjoy browsing through those photos themost.
- The train journeys & the train ka khaana- We would also enjoy left over train ka khaana which relatives would get home.
- Those who travelled in airlines were indeed heroes!
- The sentence: Ensuring the skirt & socks kiss the knees. - Bang on
- The ads of the 80s were as interesting as the feature films, didn’t want to miss the ads also.
The last 2 pages where you have described an anonymous walk back in time- Every word touched the right chord.
Kudos on this achievement. May your creativity grow & we shall see new manifestations.

Reminiscing and romancing the 80's was truly a surreal experience. The writeups accompanying the pictures left me 'Hypnotized'. Coming out of the trance at the end, after slowly flipping pages savoring the sights, smells and sounds, they evoked was like being rudely awakened to an ordinary listless sham that we now call life. And the letters! I took out mine written in the late 80's and I cried...a lost world almost another lifetime. The raw emotions and vulnerable dialogue - where you could almost touch a heartbeat, hear the cry of loneliness or the suppressed silence of mirth or ecstasy. Thank you for bringing all the romance love and light back raising the curtain and providing a peek into our collective memories and forgotten landscapes. The coffee book is all that it promises and more. It's definitely the Have- nots envy and owners and Authors pride.

I compliment Seema on her beautifully curated and stylised book Romancing the 80s...a cornucopia of the zeitgeist of the era we grew up in.
Every page evoked a memory, a smell, a style, a sound sometimes when I am alone with my mind wandering, my thoughts go to happy associations of those years and a smile and Seema's book brought back so many times of our teen years. Most of all I'd like to compliment her on the amount of research and time to put together everything that encapsulated the era, from the iconic Liril to Lalitaji!! The white canvas shoes and a quick fix chalk whitening , the Ambassador car and the Camlin geometry set, often a bday gift in our simple home birthday parties, Nazia Hassan and so so so much. A stylised book of art!! Fabulous

What wonderful piece of Art from the 80s. I was totally transported to my growing up years. It brought all the memories back& now I am sitting
back & savoring the taste of beautiful bygone years through your fantastic book. You have so meticulously put each & every small ticket, brand, radio, TV, serials, movies, cassettes etc etc. in the collection. So much of research & hard work that you must have put in is visible in each page of the book. Just love it. Thank you for my copy. Huge congratulations on beautiful & just apt GRAPHICS too. Loads of love dear

Fabulous book taking us down memory lane. Well it would be unfair to pick & select my favourite pages but I would still mention a few pages or instances which I enjoyed even more:

Oh what a book .. this throws you back a few decades... and when you think about it, it brings a smile to the corner of your lips ...
Lovely!
The first flip is a quick one just to see what all is in there .... then, you sit again and go thru' it a second time much slowly ... and maybe now, I will go thru ' it a few more times .. like the time I saw "Betaab" 14 times in those days.
It is a gift of memories gone by ... Thank you so much
Ravi Bhashyam

I just went through the book it’s so beautifully curated, heartfelt, funny and well researched of the times ‘assi tussi’grew up in.
wonderful effort, it evoked so many memories and reminded of things and times that I had forgotten and had not realised that those experiences and objects were actually really gone. Good share with the girls too.. thanks for doing this so they can believe us more.Cheers
